ShieldsUP!! The Shields UP!! utility at the Gibson Research Corporation site (http://grc.com/) provides Internet base port scanning (very handy if you need to check your firewall). Unfortunately, its a bit cumbersome to click your way to the Shields UP!! utility.
Nmap Online This web site provides a front-end to nmap and allows one to scan their system (as it appears to the Internet at large). One may choose to wait for the results of the scan, or alternatively, have the results mailed to them.
DSheild DShield.org is an attempt to collect data about cracker activity from all over the internet. This data will be cataloged and summarized. It can be used to discover trends in activity and prepare better firewall rules.

JFtp The JFtp project at http://j-ftp.sourceforge.net/ provides a Java based FTP client (and more: SFTP, SMB, NFS, WebDAV) which can be launched via Java Web Start. If your browser is Java Web Start enabled you can click on the icon on the left to start it.
Google /* Code Search  */ Google /* Code Search */ allows one to search for public source code. We were pretty impressed that we could enter a search string like "get_pub_ip_addr() lang:shell" and have the search engine return the source code to our getipaddr script which contains the function we searched on.
Sun Download Manager 2.0 The Sun Download Manager is a useful Java Web Start application which aids in the downloading of large files. It allows one to drag/drop links into the the tool as well as start, stop, and resume downloads.

W3C Markup Validation Service The W3C Markup Validation Service (at http://validator.w3.org/) performs a VERY STRICT validation check on a HTML page.
